Spice Things Up with Ginger

Ever been told you should eat more ginger? Well, you should.

Originating in China, the root of the ginger plant comes in many different forms: a dried spice, an oil, powdered, fresh, tea, or juice. Many Asian and Indian foods are made with ginger, but you’ll also find it in cookies, cakes, soda, and savory meats. In addition to its culinary uses, ginger has been known for its healing properties for thousands of years. That’s because ginger is a superfood that’s filled with a powerful blend of nutrients, antioxidants, and compounds that are good for a wide range of health conditions. The natural oil found in ginger, called gingerol, is the reason ginger has such powerful health benefits.

In addition to being delicious, ginger is one of the healthiest spices you can eat. Here’s how it can improve your health.

Relieves Nausea

One of the most well known facts about ginger is its ability to relieve nausea. Have morning sickness, seasickness, or nausea from chemotherapy? You may want to consider treating your nausea with ginger. Talk with your doctor before taking large amounts, but you should be safe to take 1 to 1.5 grams of ginger a day. You can chew raw ginger, suck a ginger lozenge, or drink ginger tea.
